Ark Move

making the typical drab surroundings of gyms a thing of the past

Boldly designed, Ark Move's two-storied gym along Serangoon Road subverts the design expectation of fitness studios while livening up the environment with its rich jewel tones that also function as crisp lines of demarcation between stations, floors, and rooms.

Diagonal lines frequently feature in this space — a clever space-saving method that adds dynamism to this long, narrow shophouse-turned gym. Parts of the walls and ceilings are painted diagonally in a deep, lush shade of forest green with soft brown wood floors to match. The lockers boast the same wood texture and colour, visually leading one towards it while doing their job as inconspicuously as possible.

Tucked in the back of the basement is the female toilet, a cosy area painted a warm shade of yellow that opens up to a skylight above. Another corner houses a private pod available for those looking to focus on working out to book
